iBuddha represents a contemporary Buddhist space which is instant, interactive and individual.
It is an urban installation consisting of a matrix of movable horizontally-placed rods. When people approaches it, the rods shift backwards and iBuddha is transformed into an abstracted Buddha statue.
Traditional Buddhist temples are losing their status as a spiritual place for believers of the religion. Monumental in scale, they are becoming attraction for picture-taking tourists. What is left with temples is a mere symbol of Buddhism. iBuddha therefore intends to create a spiritual setting that challenge the conventional image of Buddhism.
Inserting into various kinds of public space such as gaps between buildings, spaces under pedestrian bridges or an open plaza, iBuddha performs as a city sculpture and a place of worship simultaneously. It is more convenient to reach. Worships are made easy, efficient and personal. It is a device that redefine the use of public space and revitalizes the city.
We believe that the instant creation of such a micro-Buddhism environment will generate an interactive and individual spiritual space that re-interpret the notion of Buddhism.
iBuddha代表了瞬间，互动与个人化的新世代佛教空间。“i”分别代表“instant, interactive, individual"。对匆匆路过的人而言，这只是个像素块一样的城市雕塑，只要当人停下来寻求宁静时，它上方的摄像监控才会触发电源，显现出预设的佛像轮廓。
